An incident at the docks

My great grandfather, William Wheeler, made the following statement in his service record, about a foot injury in le Havre: "I was unloading cases of sheer iron out of HMS Courtfield and in levering up one of the cases, the lever slipped out of my hand owing to the weight of the case, and struck my left foot, causing my injury." This community is bringing together all those involved: Labourers; Law, Kite and Osborne Medical Officer; Buchanan Investigating Officer; Captain ?? And William Wheeler.
