Remembering the lives of those who worked for the London & Provincial Bank and also served in the 26th Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers, known as the "Bankers Battalion". (The London & Provincial Bank amalgamated with the London & South Western Bank at the end of 1917 to form London, Provincial & South Western Bank, which was then acquired by Barclays Bank Ltd in October 1918.) Formed in July 1915, the Bankers Battalion took part in the battles at Flers-Courcelette and Transloy (Somme) in 1916, and in the battles of Messines, Pilckem Ridge and Menin Road in 1917. Further information about the people in this community may also be available in the Barclays Group Archives.
