Remembering the lives of those who worked for the Union Bank of Manchester and also served in the 26th Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers, known as the "Bankers Battalion". (The Union Bank of Manchester Ltd merged with the Halifax & District Permanent Banking Company in 1917, and acquired the East Morley & Bradford Deposit Bank Ltd in 1918. In 1919 the Union Bank of Manchester became affiliated to Barclays Bank Ltd.) Formed in July 1915, the Bankers Battalion took part in the battles at Flers-Courcelette and Transloy (Somme) in 1916, and in the battles of Messines, Pilckem Ridge and Menin Road in 1917.
