Remembering Post Office employees and others who enlisted in 1916 and were killed in action or who died from their wounds. Remembering also, the soldiers from other regiments who were posted to the Post Office Rifles in 1916 and were killed in action or died from their wounds. On 1 January 1917 the survivors of the 8th Battalion and new recruits were given Service Numbers beginning at 370000. NB Many of the men who were killed in action on 7 October 1916 were allocated a 'new style' Service Number. A possible explanation being that they had been listed as 'missing'.
