On the 20th March 1915 The Beckenham Journal printed the following: "LARGE NUMBERS OF WOUNDED ARRIVE IN BECKENHAM. Last week end a large batch of wounded soldiers were received at the Christ Church and Kelsey Hospitals in Beckenham. Many of the men had come straight from the trenches and have been in the recent severe fighting areas. There were some bad cases among them but they are receiving such splendid attention that many are already feeling the benefits of their treatment. We append a list of their names and regiments."
