The South Metropolitan Gas Company

The South Metropolitan Gas Company

Remembering the lives of the staff of the South Metropolitan Gas Company who served in WW1, and also people who worked there during the war. "Important war work" there, for which a number of men were retained rather than being allowed to enlist for service, included the manufacture of gas for use at the front. The staff who served and died in WW1 are commemorated on a memorial in Greenwich Park.
