HMS Good Hope -- Canadian Midshipmen

HMS Good Hope -- Canadian Midshipmen

HMS Good Hope was lost at the Battle of Coronel, off the coast of Chile, on 1 November 1914. There were no survivors. On board were four young Midshipmen from the Royal Canadian Navy. They were the first sailors from this new Navy to lose their lives in combat. They had joined HMS Good Hope when it called at Halifax, Nova Scotia, in August 1914, on the way to the South Atlantic.
