HMS Nomad was a 'M Class' destroyer. She was part of the 2nd Division of the 13th Destroyer Flotilla at the Battle of Jutland where she was under the command of Paul Whitfield. She was heavily hit, with the damage forcing her crew to abandon ship, while a final hit caused Nomad's forward magazine to explode, the destroyer sinking at 17:30. Eight of Nomad's crew were killed while 72 survivors were rescued from the sea by German torpedo boats and became prisoners-of-war.
