HMS Opal was an M-Class destroyer of the 12th Flotilla, which suffered no known damage or casualties at Jutland. This community is intended to include all those who served in Opal at Jutland. The majority of the current names included are based on examination of the casualty list when Opal was wrecked during a blizzard in January 1918 near Scapa Flow. Just under a half of the crew that were lost then had served in Opal since her commissioning in April 1916. A separate community exists for those lost in the 1918 disaster, and a link is given below.
