Two officers of the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment discovered a printing press in an abandoned building in Ypres, Belgium (known to British troops as 'Wipers'). They decided to write a magazine for their fellow soldiers - 'The Wipers Times'. The first edition was published on 12 February 1916.
