We know that Uncle Charlie was very sorry to hear of Duff's death on 25th August 1918. Apparently he was wounded as the 1st battalion took over the front line from the 1st Royal Irish Fusiliers. Relief was completed by 1.30am but at 4.30am a large enemy barrage and attack occurred. Duff apparently died of wounds overnight.
