The Graysmark Family

George and Emily Graysmark of Lewisham in London had six children: Edmund, John, Charles, William, Ernest and Gertrude. Two of their sons, William and Ernest, emigrated to Canada. During WW1, all five of their sons served in either the British or Canadian army. Edmund was in the Royal Engineers, John, in the City of London Rifles, Charles, in the Royal Army Medical Corp, William and Ernest served with the Canadian Expeditionary Force. In 1916 CSM John Graysmark was wounded and then in February 1917 he was killed. In April his brother William was also killed and then in August 1918, Ernest was killed. William and Charles survived the war.
