This community commemorates the four men and two women killed in the Pembrey Factory explosion at Llanelli (sometimes spelt Llanelly) in Carmarthenshire in July 1917. To date, I have traced 5 of the 6 killed - Mildred Owen, Christopher McCarthy, Mary Watson, George Brown and William Edward Miles. The fourth man - John Davies - is proving elusive. Newspaper reports state he was 41 years old. married and that it was his job to fill lead bottles.
