HM Submarine J6

HM Submarine J6

HM Submarine J6 was a J Class Submarine commissioned in 1916. She was sunk in October 1918 by 'friendly fire' by a British Q ship who mistook her for the German submarine U6. Although the Court of Enquiry was critical of the Cymric's Captain, it was decided that no action should be taken against him. Sixteen of the crew of the J6 lost their lives: one died aboard the Cymric whist the others were lost at sea, where many will still be entombed in the wreck of the J6.
