Roll of Honour of Goole and District

Roll of Honour of Goole and District

Goole, at the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Don, was created as a Company Town in 1826 by the Aire and Calder Navigation Company. They dug a canal from Knottingley and docks for the transhipment of goods, principally coal, via the North Sea. A publication by the Goole 'Times' Printing Company Ltd in 1917 listed those men from the district who gave their lives in service of the King and Country between August 1914 and June 1917. Photographs were included where available.
