Two Butcharts, a Mitchell, a Shorney and a Welsh

Two Butcharts, a Mitchell, a Shorney and a Welsh

Robert and Emily were cousins; Herbert Mitchell was Robert's nephew on his wife Ann's side, and John Charles Shorney was a first cousin once removed, again on Ann's side. Robert and Ann were obviously particularly close to the Shorney family, and in fact named one of their children Charles Shorney Butchart in 1911. Herbert also had a sister Elspit, or Elsie as she was known in the family. She married in to the Welsh family in Northumberland, and her brother-in-law was David Ferguson Welsh.
