Remembered in Ditchling

Remembered in Ditchling

Remembering the lives of people buried in Ditchling in West Sussex, or commemorated in the church, churchyard, or on the village war memorial. This community includes burials in Ditchling (St Margaret of Antioch) Churchyard, and also Ditchling Free Christian Chapelyard, and includes post-WW1 burials of those who served, as well as WW1 burials. Key sources for this community are two books produced by the Ditchling History Project ... "In Memoriam" published in 2010, which contains detailed information about St Margaret's Churchyard and the people buried and remembered there, and "For the Fallen of Ditchling" published in 2002, which tells the stories of all the men listed on Ditchling’s War Memorial for both world wars. Members of Ditchling History Project are working to collect the stories of the men from Ditchling who enlisted in the forces during World War One, to try to find not only their service records but also what happened to them and their families when they returned home. They would be delighted to hear from anyone connected to the men who could help them to complete this research, and can be contacted by email at [email protected]
