Men who served with the 4th Labour Battalion, Royal Engineers (703 Company, Labour Corps). Most of the men in this unit were labourers, or other manual workers in their 30s or 40s when they joined. They landed in France on the 26th of August 1915 and many remained in France or Flanders until the company was disbanded on the 10th of July 1919. The company's main duty was road building.
