Canadian Bank of Commerce - Letters from the Front
Remembering the staff of the Canadian Bank of Commerce who served in WW1. There were 1701 members of the staff (including women) who undertook war-service, and 265 of them laid down their lives. A memorial on the East and West Memorial Buildings in Ottawa, Ontario is dedicated to the memory of the staff of the Canadian Bank of Commerce who served in the First World War, and the War Memorial at Commerce Court in Toronto, Ontario also commemorates their service. The main sources for this community are the books "Letters from the Front", Volumes I and II, which were published in 1920 and 1921, and can be downloaded from https://archive.org/details/lettersfromfront01canauoft and https://archive.org/details/lettersfromfront02cana (Please note that in many cases although day and month of birth match, there is often a one year, or sometimes more, discrepancy in year of birth between that shown in the Canadian Attestation papers and the one in the Canadian Bank of Commerce book.)
