The war memorial sits at the highest point in the South Line Union Cemetery and lists the 21 men with a connection to the communities surrounding Badjeros. Named for Philip Badjero(w) who settled there in 1853, Badjeros is a small community in Grey County. The land for the cemetery was donated in 1854 by Ira Badjerow, and interments date back to 1849. The memorial is said to be one of the oldest in Ontario and completed in 1919. It's probable that grieving relatives took the opportunity to remember men from a wide geographical area well in advance of the CWGC listings. Several of the men remembered had moved to Western Canada to homestead prior to WWI. Inscription information can be found at http://ontariowarmemorials.blogspot.ca/2016/03/badjeros.html . Complete cemetery information at http://geneofun.on.ca/cems//ONGRY11023 . Both shared with thanks.
