"Black Canadians in Uniform", members of the C.E.F. in WWI not remembered elsewhere

Veteran Affairs estimated that " 2,000 Black Canadians, such as James Grant *, Roy Fells*, Seymour Tyler*, Jeremiah Jones* and Curly Christian*, managed to join regular units, going on to give distinguished service that earned some of them medals for bravery. " ( http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/remembrance/those-who-served/black-canadians-in-uniform/history#first). Other more informed sources put the number at closer to 1200 and point out that segregation and racism were rife. See for example http://curiosities.sheridancollege.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/The-Life-and-Times-of-Ira-Junius-Johnson-Exhibit-Small.pdf?fbclid=IwAR0YiwE4LEjkzo2OG_nw3AYK7yhqBagqAlXkt_henq546yPGGedJTsTthEs .
