On Aug 1, 1917 HMHS Letitia ran aground in heavy fog on rocks off Portuguese Cove while carrying 546 wounded soldiers,members of the C.E.F., back to Canada. All the men were rescued along with the nursing staff and crew. A sample is being traced from the passenger list for the Letitia available through Ancestry . The list provides information on their injuries.
