Yateley War Memorial

Yateley War Memorial

Yateley War Memorial was unveiled in April 1920 by General Henry Sinclair Horne, 1st Baron Horne GCB, KCMG, Head of Eastern Command. The Rev George Herbert Oakshott, a Royal Navy Chaplain, who had served at Gallipoli and lived at The White House Yateley, read out the 42 names. The Yateley War Memorial was erected to remember the wardead of the Ecclesiastical Parish of St Peter's. Some men from the Civil Parish of Yateley are named on the plaques on Hawley Memorial Hall. Others have been missed completely.
