"FOR DISTINGUISHED CONDUCT IN THE FIELD", Military Medal (M.M.) "FOR BRAVERY IN THE FIELD", Mentioned in Dispatches (MID) for gallantry or otherwise commendable service and Meritorious Service Medal (M.S.M.) whose criteria was amended during 1916–1919 to permit recognition of meritorious service in the field and acts of non-combat gallantry. Cpl Ashton DCM of Waterfoot (thought to be and included here as 26493). 3. Sgt George Hewitt MM, KRRC of Rawtenstall (see Life Story of brother of 21177 Pte Reginald Hewitt for newspaper article on MM). 4. Pte A. Titmass DCM, RAMC (included here as 18406 MM, ELR pending further research. More info RFP 15 Dec 1917). 5. Pte John (Wright/Wight?) MM, Royal Fusiliers and former caretaker of Rawtenstall Library (RFP 29 Dec 1917 - not identified). 6. (M2/12834 Pte?) J.W. Parkinson (ASC? French decorations x 2? - see Life Story). 7. 50382 Pte Harry Cooper of Lumb (RFP 20 Apr 1918 - MM mentioned - see Life Story).
