Hinton Charterhouse Memorial Hall had its origins in 1882 when Edward Foxcroft of Hinton House purchase Hinton Farm. The large room at the back of the old farmhouse (now listed as Hall Cottage) provided the village witha recreation room. In 1921 his son Captain Charles Foxcroft gave the barn behind the farmhouse as a memorial to all those who served in the Great War and this became the present Memorial Hall.
