E.P F. Lynch was an Infantryman in the Australian army, joining up when he was 18 years old. After the war he wrote about his experiences in 20 school exercise books. Unable to get his text published, the book remained in the family, until it was eventually published in 2008. "Somme Mud" gives a lively and compelling memoir of Edward's experiences with a typical Australian touch. It is difficult to research most of the people mentioned within the book as only nicknames are usually used. However I thought it worth a shot at trying to identify his fellow mates whom he held so dear.
