HMS Cassandra: 5 December 1918

HMS Cassandra was a C Class light cruiser commissioned in June 1917. In 1918 she formed part of a force sent to the Baltic to support the independence of the newly founded Baltic States against the Bolsheviks. On 5 December 1918 she was on passage to Tallinn, when she struck a mine. She quickly sank, but most of her crew were rescued. This community remembers the 11 members of crew who died that day.
