Staff Nurse Ruby Dickinson died on 23 June 1918, far from home, from pneumonia. A report of her funeral (https://discoveringanzacs.naa.gov.au/browse/records/183474/76) was subsequently sent to her mother and brother, and is saved in her service record notes: 'S/Nurse Dickinson reported sick on the morning 23/6/18, she was transferred to Mrs T.S. Hall's Hospital, Southwell Gardens, London, and she died of pneumonia the same afternoon. ' The report notes that Ruby was buried in the Harefield Parish Churchyard (Australian Section - Single Grave No.56) on 25/6/18, the cortege leaving the Hospital at 2.40 pm. The report lists a few individuals who officiated - Chaplains T Terry (Church of England) and Albert Percy Bladen (Methodist), Officer in Charge Captain J F S Murray, pall bearers Curtin, Craig, Renwick and Bailey and many groups who attended or sent wreaths in remembrance of Ruby's life. One hundred years later, may she and they rest in peace.
