RMS Danube May 1915 Stowaways from the West Indies

9 stowaways from Barbados, British Guiana (now Guyana), Jamaica and Trinidad arrived in London on 17 May 1915 on Royal Mail ship Danube. They were arrested and taken to West Ham Police Court where they were detained for a week. After a second hearing they were discharged and a report appeared in the Stratford Express. Two of the men in this community died in service with the Merchant Navy (Mercantile Marine).
