The Sinking of U40
On 23 June 1915 the Royal Navy employed a new tactic against UBoats. The trawler SS Taranaki acted as a decoy to while at the same time towing HM Submarine C24 behind her. When the U 40 surfaced the tow was released and the C24 moved into position to sink the U-Boat. This community seeks to identify those on the C24 and Taranaki.
