The memorial to Old Berkhamstedians killed in WW1 is in the cloisters outside the chapel. There are over 230 names inscribed, listed by year from 1914, and stating the year they left the school. This community records those names of men lost in 1914 and 1915. Two persons are currently missing Henri JOUSELIN born 8 Aug 1893 and who attended the school as a boarder in St Johns between Sep 1907 and July 1908 and was killed in action in Aug 1915 serving in the French Army.. The other man missing is I H Roberts who left the school in 1898, for whom I currently have no records.
