Chinese Labour Corps CWGC Cemeteries, Memorials, Book of Remembrance

The men of the Chinese Labour Corps have never been forgotten by a great many people, not just relatives but those who are familiar with the modern history of China and the tumultuous events of the 20th century in that part of the world where the effects of the Treaty of Versailles and the subsequent foothold of the Japanese Empire on Chinese soil led to war and revolution. These men were just blokes. Ordinary lads from towns and villages mostly in Northern China. They signed up for a job and they did whatever was asked of them to the best of their ability. This community has been set up to remember those who did not make it home to China because they died on foreign soil. Others stayed on in Europe, but their stories you will have to discover for yourself. Over 2,000 Chinese men are listed in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) records as either buried in CWGC cemeteries or commemorated elsewhere by the CWGC. This community aims to create a series of records for each cemetery or memorial, although it will not be possible to remember each man. Note that the names are entered so that the Chinese surname is in capital letters. The romanisation system appears to be Wade-Giles rather than pinyin.
