British NCOs and ORs of 86th and 104th Heavy Batteries who were trapped inside Kut during the siege from 7/12/15 to 29/4/16 then went into a brutal captivity if they hadn't already been killed or exchanged. A heavy Bty had some 80+ British ORs and 110 Indian ORs. Since the whole of 86 Bty and half (ie No 1 section) of 104 Bty were trapped inside Kut this should represent about 120 British ORs and 160 IORs. But sadly the records for Indian ORs are sparse. I have concentrated here on the British.---------82 of these 123 men died died in Turkish captivity and 2 more had died during the siege---------- NB there are 2 men, Hamilton and Lumsden, who are in this community as RGA but were in fact attached to S&T Corps thus perhaps nothing to do with 86 or 104 HBs
