HM Drifter "Laurel Crown" lost 22 June 1916

HM Drifter "Laurel Crown" was lost on 22 June 1916 during minesweeping operations near Marwick Head, Orkney. She struck one of the mines laid on 29 May 1916 by German submarine U-75. Another of these mines had been struck by HMS "Hampshire" on 5 June 1916, and she sank with the loss of 737 lives including Lord Kitchener. All nine crew of "Laurel Crown" were lost.
