Linking all those listed as masseuses, members of the Military Massage Services for various countries and others known to have worked in this capacity in WWI. Massage therapy became a recognised and "respectable" profession for women in WWI. Eventually it was recognised as a specific branch of physiotherapy which led to the global organisation of the profession and standards of treatment.
