Halifax Memorial - The men and women who died or were lost at sea in WWI

270 Canadians and 2 British who served in WWI are remembered on the memorial . 192 served with the C.E.F. and were buried or lost at sea. Most of those who died in October 1918 were victims of the Spanish 'flu' epidemic on their way to serve abroad. 48 served with the Navy and 32 with the Merchant Marine. "Her Majesty’s Canadian Ships and visiting warships when entering or leaving Halifax Harbour and passing the Halifax Memorial between Colours (0800 hours daily) and sunset ‛pipe the still’ to render honours.
