Benjamin Rixon was the son of convicts James Rixon, who arrived in New South Wales, Australia in 1798 and Amelia Goodwin, who arrived in 1800. A photo montage was published on the front of the Sydney Mail on 24 July 1918, which features a group of men descended from Rixon who all served in the First World War (note that there are two photos of A J Rixon). This montage is in the collections of the Australian War Memorial, Accession Number P04735.002.
