Underbank Wesleyan Chapel
This community presents the lifestories of those men listed on the war memorial of Underbank Wesleyan Chapel, now located at Holmfirth Methodist Church, School Street, Holmfirth. Services began in Underbank in a small cottage. On the first Sunday of 1861, 25 children attended the Sunday School. The foundation stone for a Chapel building was laid on 1 January 1863 and the first service held on 9 July 1863. Services and Sunday School took place every week until 1976 when the Chapel was amalgamated with Holmfirth Wesleyan Chapel when the current church was opened.
