The information for this community has been derived from the History of Netherthong website (http://historyofnetherthong.co.uk/?p=151 ). Netherthong Working Men's Club was established in September 1874, intended as a social club for the men of the village to meet and play games. After the end of WW1, club members subscribed to a war memorial comprising photos of the seventeen members who had died, enclosed in two large oak and gilt frames. The Club closed in the early 1930s and the war memorial has been lost.
