When Gunner John Thew of the Royal Artillery retired from the army in 1882 he became a Police Constable in St Peter Port Guernsey. While on the island John, and his Alderney-born wife Amelia Ann Adams, had six children. Five survived to adulthood, of whom three served in The First World War. This community remembers those three brothers.
