Little Bollington Primary School.

War Heroes Honoured. Two local soldiers who fought and died in the Great War will be remembered in a special ceremony . School children from Little Bollington Primary School will lay a poppy wreath is memory of Lance Sergeant Arthur Woodhouse of Gladstone Road and Private Leonard Walsh both served in the Cheshire Regiment during a poignant school trip. Wreaths have been made from some of the poppies on a beautiful display in the grounds of the school to mark Remembrance day last year. The wreath laying will bring to a poignant close to the school's commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the ending of World War One. The 29 children set off of the school's annual visit to France on Tuesday, but this year to coincide with the centenary commemorations will be going over to Belgium. As part of the trip we have managed to change to itinerary to include visits to Tyne Cot Cemetery and Menin Gate Memorial. "The children have been very moved by what they have learnt. We starting researching information about local soldiers who served in the First World War. These two soldiers are local to the area and it brings it home to the children what happened. Article from the Altrincham and Sale Messenger dated week commencing 3rd of March 2019.
