Recuperating in 1917We knew from my grandfather that he was rescued from a collapsed trench in Ypres in June 1917. He was injured, with only his arm above ground, and was dug out by his comrades. He recuperated at Wistow. From the Wistow Hall website History page : "During the Great War, Lord and Lady Cottesloe made Wistow Hall available as a hospital for wounded soldiers from 1914 to 1919 and the patients numbered 16 Belgian, 4 Canadian and 440 British."Contributed by:
