From a photograph taken with his parents and sister when he was home on leave.

Walter is with his parents, Jane and Joseph Ezard, and sister, Mary Annie ('Cissie'), possibly when he was home on leave.

Walter's birthday is written in the handwriting of his wife, Ella, in her small 'Birthday Scripture Text Book'. It confirms that he was born on 30 October.

The small plaque is mounted on the ornate frame of the painting of yachts presented to Walter as a wedding gift from his colleagues.

This obituary was published in the local newspaper on Friday 19 December 1930. It confirms the main details of his life.

In uniform, with the letters AOC clearly visible on his epaulette.

The silver fob shows his monogram (WGE) on the top and round the side - not visible in photo - his years of service (April 1916-September 1919). This must have been done as a souvenir after the war.

A printed roll of honour entitled “Service Roll of Martins Bank”, listing “Those who did not return” and “Ex-Service Men 1914-1919”, was compiled in 1931 for the centenary of the Bank of Liverpool, and comprises of a list of staff of all the constituent banks in the Martins group (Bank of Liverpool, Martins Bank, Bank of Liverpool and Martins Limited, Lancashire & Yorkshire Bank, Cocks Biddulph, Palatine Bank, Halifax Commercial Bank, Cattle Trade Bank, Equitable Bank). It used to be on permanent display at the former Martins head office at Water Street in Liverpool, but was transferred to Barclays Group Archives in 2007 when Barclays sold the building. The image shows the cover of the book.
