Clayton War MemorialThe Clayton War Memorial was erected by the people of Clayton in August 1921 to commemorate the local men of Clayton who lost their lives. There are 230 names from WW1 on the panels. The cenotaph is 26 feet high and raised on steps. The memorial was unveiled by Captain Frank M. Hilton of the Lancashire Fusiliers. A short service was conducted and a firing party fired three volleys
