    This is my grandfather’s death certificate showing he was born on 28th August 1899 and died on 4th November 1974. It also shows he worked for some time as a bus driver when he was discharged from the army.

    My grandfather with other strikers from the engine works of the famous Harland and Wolff Shipyard where he was working in 1935. He is second from the left in the 4th row

    Shows my grandmother with other workers of the Carding Department of Belfast Rope Works where she worked in 1935. She is in the row directly behind those seated on the bench, second from the right. She continued to wear 'pinny' style aprons worn by many of the women the whole time I knew her until she died.
