  • Horace Duncan
    Both Horace and his father were postmen. This is in the family collection but not labelled. Oscar, his father, was born in 1848 and we consider this image is much more likely to be Horace who was born in 1889.

  • War memorial outside St. Leonard's church, Heston
    Horace is at the bottom of the page on the right. I remember when a very small child my grandmother, whose late husband, Ernest, was Horace's brother pointed out that the memorial included 2 relatives. I later dicovered one to be Horace. The other I think was a private, H. White

  • Gravestone of Horace's parents
    The stone on Oscar and Lydia Duncan's grave in St Leonard's churchyard, Heston, also remembers Horace (whose body was lost at Passchendaele) His sister, Amy, who died in 1901 aged 17 and my mother, who was named Amy after her, and who died in 1968 are also buried in this grave.
