Lives of the First World War

After WW1 three boards were placed in St Peter's church as a memorial to all those who served in thearmed forces, including those killed. This database was created from an old list of those listed on this WW1 Roll of Honour. St Peter's was destroyed by fire in 1979 and this list was used to create the replacement boards. Baptisms in St Peter's Yateley parish registers were transcribed by the Verger, the Church Archivist and their team before an arsonist burnt down the church in 1979. The original registers were saved and microfilmed by Hampshire Record Office (Yateley PR1-9,15). These transcriptions were digitised by Dr R H Johnston and completely rechecked against the microfilm.
