The photo records details of his war service, dying of his wounds just a day before the Armistice.

Today I am truly humbled.A friend of mine sent me a picture of the grave of a soldier who served in the Artists Rifles during WW1. The Artists Rifle Association has sent out crosses to members to place next to graves on the Regimental list.I am no longer a member but I asked if their are any near me. Capt Robert Carl Hobson is on the list buried in Efford Cemetery Plymouth. I called the Cemetery office to enquire about the grave location. To my dismay, they told me there was no record of him.That was it, I was on a mission to find Robert.After a few searches on the Internet, I found a picture of his grave, again indicating he lay in Plymouth.I called the office again excited with my find and read out the name of the grave behind Robert. Problem solved, there had been a typo on the records, they had put down "Holson" instead of Hobson, this has now been rectified.The Artists Rifles officers were seconded to many different Regiments during the war. This is my maternal grandfather's younger brother - my great uncle Carl, as a Captain in the Northumberland Fusiliers.
