Gravestone at Banc-y-Felin, Nr. St. Clears, Carms.On each 18th April members of the Welsh Spitfire Society gather to pay their respects to 'Taffy Ira'. In 2009 the occasion was introduced with a fly past by Spitfire member Ray Burgess in his own BAe Bulldog who included a 'Victory Roll' as a special salute.

Memorial to Group Captain J. Ira T. JonesBeside the War Memorial in the centre of St. Clear, Carmarthenshire, there is a memorial to the local World War I flying ace, Group Captain Ira Jones. "In proud memory of Group Captain J. Ira T. Jones. Per Ardua - D.S.O., M.C., D.F.C. & Bar, M.M., Russian Order of St George - Ad Astra. Born in this village 18 April 1896 Died 30 August 1960, having served his country faithfully & defended it with conspicuous gallantry & devotion. This memorial was erected by public subscription to perpetuate the memory of a man of whom Wales is justly proud - 1964"Contributed by:
