We little thought his time so short, In this world to remain; Or thought when from his home he went, He would never return again. We think of him in silence, His name we oft recall; There is nothing left to comfort us, But his photo on the wall. Sleep on, dear one, in a foreign land, In a grave we may never see; But as long as life and memory lasts, We shall always remember thee. Farewell, dear boy, your life is past, We loved you dearly to the last; To part with you has caused us pain, But hope in heaven to meet again.
